GSM System Performance Engineer
Commnet Wireless is seeking mid level GSM System Performance Engineer to provide system optimization expertise in order to improve the wireless network's performance and maximize efficiency The position is located in Castle Rock, CO and will require strong troubleshooting ability, interaction with other departments, analytical skill sets, and overall industry knowledge in order to meet company objectives.Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Assist in meeting company and department objectives
- Improve system performance through parameter optimization, hardware issue identification, interference identification/mitigation, and recommending antenna changes when appropriate (make/model, azimuths, tilts, etc)
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer service/ partner issues in a timely manner
- Monitor network performance via KPI’s
- Monitor traffic on the networks and trigger capacity additions where necessary based on company criteria
- Support the RF design engineers in location identification and development of new cell sites
- Lead or assist in projects on an as needed basis
- Collect RF field data in areas across the country for use with optimization and new cell site location opportunities
- Post process data using test equipment (real time) and post processing software
- Assemble maps for use by various departments
- Present maps/ drive data results in group forums as requested
- Work with major carriers to implement/ improve inter-MSC handoffs
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years experience as a GSM System Performance Engineer
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following:
- RF System Optimization
- Nokia GSM architecture
- Technologies: GSM, GPRS, EDGE
- Test equipment: TEMS, ZK SAM, Invex 3G, spectrum analyzers
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, Map Info
- Ability to demonstrate good troubleshooting skills
- Ability to communicate and work well in teams
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility by attempting alternate solutions to resolve issues and adjust to a dynamic changing business environment
- Must be able to work multiple projects at one time
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional nights and weekends
- Some overnight travel is required (20% -30%)
- A valid drivers license is required
